WASHINGTON -- Tens of millions of Social Security recipients and other retirees will get a 2.8 percent increase in benefits next year as inflation edges higher. For the average retired worker, it amounts to $39 a month.

It's nice to see people that worked hard all of their lives being taken care of. Unlike in the Obama era, where they moved the goalposts.

@bondojoe 2.8 percent is a slap in the face to people struggling to live on Social Security. I say double the SS tax, then double the SS payments--that would be a good starting point.

Well, after 2019 medicare B premiums will go up by 5% a year through 2025. A 3% raise won't actually increase your check.

@SoylentBrown By 2025? SS will increase every year. I seven years it may increase by 20%.
